The Convent Keepers Community Center has stood on the corner of Leighton Blvd and North Montana Avenue since 1902.  It is a Miles City landmark, and beautiful reminder of the craftsmanship and care that went into the building.   A central entrance pavilion with four wooden columns supports a triangular pediment. Palladian windows and a rounded tower capped by a conical roof add pleasing visual interest. The interior of the building showcases hundreds of linear feet of oak trim, ornate decoration, and hardwood floors throughout. The well-preserved landmark is an apt tribute to the Ursuline Sisters, marking their contribution to the building of Montana and dedicated service to her children.

The Miles City Convent Keepers was formed in 1991 when the Catholic Parish announced they would demolish the Ursuline Convent building.  The small group raised $9000 in ten days from area residents, and the building was then converted into a non-denominational community center now known as the Convent Keepers Community Center, although most Miles City residents still consider it the "Old Convent" building.

The purpose of the Miles City Convent Keepers is to assume responsibility for this historic building to preserve the architectural integrity of the structure and the significance of the building as it relates to eastern Montana’s history.

Our mission is to protect and preserve the architectural and historical significance of the former Ursuline Convent for future generations to enjoy; and to enhance community awareness of its value as a historical site.

We are sustained through monthly rental of office space, rental of meeting and event space, and profits from the Country Thrift Store.  Donations, fundraisers and membership dues keep exterior and interior renovations moving forward.

If you have a need for an office or event space; or would like to donate time or money, please call Sharon at (406) 234-4146, or email mcacad@midrivers.com
